Byrd and Britten

Cappella Novocastriensis celebrates the works of William Byrd in his 400th anniversary.  The programme will bring together both his sacred and secular works, including extracts from the Mass for four voices, Emendemus in melius and Haec dies.  These wonders of the English Renaissance will be paired with works by Benjamin Britten.  Britten was inspired by the cultural and musical legacy he inherited from artists like Byrd and Tallis, and the concert will explore parallels between these two great composers.
