Lunchtime Concert - Bell Bird Fantasias - 16 February 2023

Date/Time: Thursday 16 February 2023, 1.15pm

Venue: King's Hall, Armstrong Building

Bell Bird Fantasias

A programme built around the manuscript music collections of three Scottish-Australian violinists: a convict who made his life in Van Diemen's Land in 1813; a stockman from the alpine regions of Australia's Snowy Mountains, and a virtuoso living in the tropical climes of Queensland.  Their dance tunes and stunning fantasias are interspersed with historical anecdotes from their lives as well as sound vignettes created with samples of the Australian bush and recorded voice.

Shane Lestideau (violin)

David McGuinness (piano)
