Adrienne McFarland

Adrienne McFarland has strategic responsibility for developing the University’s approach to leading and developing our people agenda whilst supporting the implementation of the new vision and strategy. Adrienne leads the HR team, which includes HR operations, Reward and Equality, Leadership Talent, Recruitment, Organisation Development and Occupational Health and Safety.

Adrienne joined the University in April 2019 having previously been a lay member of Council since August 2017.  Having graduated in Politics and Social Policy from Newcastle University, Adrienne has held a number of global HR positions across multiple sectors including Ford, Accenture, Sage, Nestle and Utilitywise.

Adrienne’s track record is about leading and delivering global change management programmes, on all areas of strategic HR, across global matrix organisations and leading international teams. This is achieved by working with senior organisational leaders to deliver organisational goals through people.

Adrienne is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and was featured in HR magazine’s list of ‘Most Influential Practitioners within the UK’ Manufacturing Sector in 2014 and for the Energy Sector in 2018. Adrienne is also a Non-Executive Director of Impeller Assurance & Resilience Ltd, Jan 2016 to date.
