Helen McArdle CBE was born in County Durham, which is also where she first founded Helen McArdle Care with her family in 1989.
Over 25 years later, Helen McArdle Care is still a family-run business and is considered to be one of the most successful care providers in the North East and the UK.
Helen is a pioneer in the care industry, well known for providing the highest quality of care, comfort and service; always building ahead of regulation and investing in new innovations and staff development. Helen also founded Care North East, an umbrella organisation representing fellow providers’ interests throughout the North East. In 2016, Helen McArdle Care was proven to be the highest quality care provider in the UK, achieving four ‘outstanding’ Care Quality Commission (CQC) gradings.
In 2000 Helen McArdle also founded Kids 1st Nurseries, the UK’s highest quality childcare provider.
Active in the region’s charitable sector, Helen has donated over £2m to local and international charities during the last seven years, including the Tyne & Wear Community Foundation, Percy Hedley Trust, Calvert Trust, Maggie’s, Build Africa and is a patron of the Prince’s Trust.
In 2015 Helen was awarded a CBE for her services to the care home industry and the local community.
