Radical Film Network and 11th London Greek Film Festival

Evripidis Karydis and his attendance at the Radical Film Network and 11th London Greek Film Festival

In 2018, I had the chance and the honour to participate and present my work in both the 11th London Greek Film Festival, held in London and the Radical Film Network Conference held in Dublin, Ireland. Being an aspiring filmmaker and academic, these two events helped me to gain invaluable presentation and communication skills.
In London, I had the privilege to display my short documentary film "98" (world Premiere) at the prestigious London Greek Film Festival. I grasped the chance to meet people from the film industry expanding my network of acquaintances and get constructive feedback for my film. Furthermore, I was able to watch the work of other filmmakers engaging into stimulating Q&A sessions directly after the films.

Later this year I had the chance to present my ongoing PhD project "Freedom through Football" at the Radical Film Network Conference in Dublin. This is a very important conference in the field and my presence there equipped me with good presentation skills, receiving positive feedback and finally expanding my academic and filmmaking network, as there were many academics and filmmakers attending the conference. One of the highlights of my presence there, amongst others, was the invitation I got from a fellow academic to screen my PhD film at John Moores Liverpool University as a part of a conference about football and politics.

Overall, these were both successful and meaningful experiences and I am looking forward to attending more of these in the future.
