Student nights
One in six people in Newcastle is a student, so you’ll
fin d no shortage of student nights at venues across the
city. Newcastle University Students’Union (NUSU) is
the starting point for many a night out, with its MENS Bar
serving food and drinks at reasonable prices. NUSU
hosts huge club nights like CCTV and regular gigs from
up-and-coming artists such as James Bay and Courtney
Barnett. In town, Koosday is a national club night that
originated in Newcastle and takes over various venues
on Wednesday nights – the biggest student night of
the week.

The weather might not always remind you of Ibiza but
Newcastle has a thriving club scene. The city’s biggest
club night, Shindig, recently moved to new warehouse
premises to hold capacity crowds who flock there for
the trademark fusion of house and techno. Superclub
Digital hosts club nights Thursday through Sunday,
attracting world-famous names like David Guetta and
Shy FX, whilst World Headquarters p rides itself on being
friendly, unpretentious and independent, with a passion
for music. Located in Chinatown, Cosmic Ballroom
offers an intimate space for DJs to perform for
underground crowds.
