Sociology Welcomes Visiting Professor

We are very pleased to welcome Professor Sue Scott to Sociology at Newcastle as a Visiting Professor.

Sue is a sociologist who has researched and published widely in the areas of gender; sexuality, risk; the body and childhood. She has held academic posts at a number of UK Universities including Professorships at Stirling and Durham. She was also Executive Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Keele University and Pro Vice Chancellor (Research) at Glasgow Caledonian University.  Sue is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and a member of its Council and a member of the board of The European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities. She was President of the British Sociological Association 2007-9 and is currently President of the European Sociological Association. She is a founder and managing editor of the online social science magazine Discover Society During her time with us as a Visiting Professor, Sue will be advising early career researchers on areas such as publications and grant funding development and providing input into our strategic planning looking into the future.
