Why you should care about the local elections

Why Bother Voting?

 

"Elections provide voters with a choice of competing candidates, platforms, and parties. They provide a mechanism for holding representatives to account for their performance in office and allow citizens a degree of control over their elected representatives."

 

An article in the conversation by Newcastle Universities Dr. Alistair Clark, Senior Lecturer in Politics looks at the importance of and relevance of local elections in relation to other current broader elections.
