The School of Geography, Politics and Sociology

When studying a research degree at Newcastle you will be allocated a team of at least two supervisors who will serve as both your academic advisors and your personal tutors.

Your supervisors are the most important point of contact you will have at Newcastle. You meet regularly with them during term time, receiving as much help as they are able to provide.

The relationship is a reciprocal and beneficial one. Our students are an important source of intellectual stimulation and specialised expertise to the School.

The supervisors can provide the skills to discipline and present your knowledge. This allows you to communicate with your potential audience in academia or elsewhere.
