How does populist performance manifest in a British online campaign video context?
Supervisors
Project description
A content analysis of videos uploaded by political parties to Facebook during the UKGE2019 campaign.
This thesis evaluates how populist performance manifests multimodally - that is, how populist ideas are communicated through the various different communication mechanisms inherent to online video, such as imagery; editing, and sound design.
This thesis contributes to political communication literature and populism literature, particularly centred around 'online campaigning' and 'populism as discourse' formulations respectively.
