Staff Profile

Dr Meera Inglis

Lecturer in political theory

Background

I was awarded my PhD in Environmental Ethics in 2016 from the University of Sheffield, where I also took my MA in Globalisation and Development (2012) and my undergraduate degree in Philosophy (2008). I was awarded the Animal Ethics Essay writing prize in 2015.

Before returning to academia to do my MA, I worked for 3 years as an English language teacher in the UK and in Ecuador. I primarily work as a teacher but my research interests broadly cover issues in animal ethics, the politics and philosophy of life and death, and philosophy of biology.

Teaching

I am currently the teaching assistant on the following modules:

Stage 1: Foundations of Modern Political Thought

Stage 2: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - Issues in Contemporary Politics Theory

I also run the stage 3 module: Animal and Environmental Ethics.

I supervise both undergraduate and MA dissertations in the area of ethics (broadly defined).
