Environmental Planning

Environmental Planning,

This theme considers issues which arise from human – natural environment interactions.

Whilst relevant to environmental sciences, the emphasis essentially is on the social science themes emerging from these interactions.

Social science perspectives include:

  • policy and politics
  • social constructions
  • economics
  • landscape planning and design
  • risks and hazards
  • ethics

In terms of environmental governance, our work relates to spatial planning as well as environmental quality and resource management. Methods of assessment include Environmental Impact Assessment and environmental valuation.

The theme leader is Neil Powe.
