Postgraduate Funding

Postgraduate Funding

Here you can find out about postgraduate funding opportunities.

If you are an alumnus of this University, you may be eligible for a 20% reduction in postgraduate tuition fees.

The University provides a guide to postgraduate funding in the online postgraduate prospectus. You may also use the postgraduate funding database to help find specific and general funding opportunities.

In the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, our postgraduate research students are eligible for £200 funding to attend relevant conferences. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences also offers a number of Postgraduate Excellence Scholarships for taught study (including MLitts) in the Faculty.

Details of more specific research opportunities are detailed below:

Other expenses

You might be able to receive limited funding from the School to cover research expenses incurred from travelling to archives nationally or attending conferences to meet other postgraduates.

We encourage you to seek external funding wherever possible. But if you have a specific requirement essential to your research project, you can apply for funding from the School.

You should discuss this in advance of your trip with the Degree Programme Director, or your dissertation supervisor, and apply to the Postgraduate Director. You’ll need to provide the School with all necessary receipts.
