Dr John Hogan at Birdoswald

Heading level 2

Newcastle University Registrar Dr John Hogan recently spent a sunny day at Birdoswald settlement on the World Heritage site Hadrian's Wall, exploring the current excavation project. During the visit, Dr Hogan spoke to Professor of Archaeology Ian Haynes about the research he is leading at the site with colleagues from Historic England. Dr Hogan also spoke with current archaeology students about the excavation project and their involvement.

Birdoswald is an important archaeological site undergoing excavations to developing our understanding of Hadrian's Wall and cosmpolitan Roman town life at the edge of the Empire.
