Investigation of mode of action of a flavonoid-containing non-toxic plant extract formulation

The KTP project aims to identify the science underlying the mode of action of the Citrox crop protection products in providing plant disease resistance. To develop improved experimental methods for refining the product formulations and dosages and for use in new product development. To effectively market this new scientific knowledge for targeting of new and existing customers.An sensitive and reproducible testing system was established, and the efficacy and effect on plant composition measured.

The research has shown that the product, which comprises only food grade components, works as an effective disinfectant, protecting plants by killing pathogens exposed on the surface, in accordance with its use as surface disinfectant for fresh cut salads. The company will now use this information and the publications arising from it to improve and strengthen its market position.
