Support
We provide training and research opportunities to help our researchers enhance their careers.
Personal Development Review
The first stage of turning an idea into a potential research topic is to talk to your academic supervisors or mentor.
The University operates a regular Personal Development Review (PDR) proces. This gives you a chance to discuss developing an independent research career. The PDR process takes place annually in March. There's a follow up session in September.
Writing grant applications
We organise bitesize workshops on writing a grant application. These are run by the Research Funding Development Managers. Current members of the University can find more information on workshops on our internal site.
Training
There is lots of training provision available for contract research staff.
There are a number of seminars within the University that may be useful for staff and PhD students. For example, we hold seminars on travel grant writing. These cover finding funding schemes, what they're looking for, and how to make wite effectively.
Fellowship Applications
We can support you when you're making Fellowship applications. This includes reading draft Fellowship Proposals and setting up mock interviews.
PI development programme
The PI Development programme is typically offered twice each year. One cohort starts in September, and the other starts in January.
