Our future intakes will be directly to PhD, with funding for 3.5 years and does not include the Masters level training.

When you’re ready, please submit your application to course code 8050F.

Please include the following documents with your application:

An up to date CV
Personal statement (maximum of two A4 pages)

Under the ‘Programme of Study’ tab, please:

specify CDTCloud as the studentship/partnership reference
specify which project you're interested in from the list of available projects

Once you have submitted your application, please email cdt-admin@ncl.ac.uk with your name and application reference number – this will allow us to track your application in the system.

Entry requirements

To be considered for admission to this programme, students must already have masters level training in Data Science, or equivalent qualifications.

We will also consider applicants on an individual basis with lower or non-standard qualifications if they have relevant professional experience in computing and statistics.

Funding

We have up to 6 studentships for UK students. This will cover the costs of fees and an annual tax-free stipend of £15,560 for 3.5 years.

We also provide significant funding for equipment, research costs, and local, national and international travel (e.g. conferences and placements).

Fees

Applicants that are unsuccessful, or not eligible, for one of our studentships but that are still accepted for the programme will need to:

demonstrate that they can meet the cost of the fees, and
can support themselves financially for the full duration of the programme.

The current fees are:

£4,450 per annum for UK domiciled students
from £15,635 per annum for international students
