Clinical PET MRI

PET MR

Newcastle's new PET MR scanner is being used for research into dementia, neurodegeneration and cancer.

A new PET MR scanner was delivered to Newcastle University in April 2016. The scanner is a state of the art Signa PET MR scanner from GE Healthcare which combined 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning with molecular imaging by positron emission tomography (PET).

The scanner is part funded by the Medical Research Council as part of a network of new scanners to be used for research into dementia.

The project is part of the Dementia Platform UK.
