Governance, Institutions and Inclusion

Overview

Governing local, regional and urban development and policy is an enduring part of CURDS’ international research reputation. Underpinned by a variety of understandings of governing, work in this area is concerned with institutions of the state and government as well as other governance actors such as universities and civic and social organisations. Utilising various concepts and theories alongside mixed methodologies, this research is concerned with how territorial development and policy are organised, managed and regulated through different geographical scales and networks. Emergent work is engaging with new ideas around more inclusive and foundational understandings of the economy and its governance including economic and social infrastructure and innovation and experimentation in place-based policy.
