Identification and Application of Genotoxic Biomarkers of Exposure

In this project we will monitor genotoxicity biomarkers such as mtDNA damage, γ-H2AX, and COMET DNA strand break assay in cell lines and primary keratinocytes exposed ex vivo to a range of UV doses and/or chemical DNA damaging agents with relevance to accidental exposure (radiation), occupational exposure or chemotherapy. Using cell approaches in dividing and non-dividing human lines will allow discrimination between replication-dependent and replication-independent biomarkers.
