Buying Additional Leave

The University recognises that employees may require additional leave from time to time.  Employees can apply to buy additional annual leave up to and including 2 weeks in any one leave year.  All staff are eligible to request this regardless of length of service.  This provision will not apply to staff on long term sick leave.

Once agreed, the additional leave is treated as a temporary addition to their existing leave entitlement.  It is subject to the same arrangements as normal annual leave, such as applying in advance for the specific days off using the annual leave card, which is approved and recorded by their line manager.

The deadlines for an application to your manager are 1 August and 1 February each year.
