Staff Profile

Victoria Barone

Project Administrator (en/counter/points - SACS) and ESRC IAA Finance Officer (HaSS)

Background

Victoria is the Project Administrator for the Humanities and the European Research Area (HERA) funded, Media, Culture and Heritage project en/counter/points based in the School of Arts and Cultures (SACS). This project investigates the relationships between official and unofficial sites, practices, processes, and discourses of public space, culture, and integration to uncover multiple (re)negotiations of belonging in a diverse Europe. HERA has made a major investment across Europe to explore the social, cultural, and political challenges facing the UK, Europe and the world. From over 200 applications, of which just 20 were funded, two projects are being led by academics at Newcastle University in collaboration with partners across Europe. As the Project Administrator Victoria manages communication processes across the project and its many European partners, coordinates the budgets and financial reporting, and manages content for and structure of the project website.

As well as her role in SACS, Victoria sits within the Humanities and Social Sciencs (HaSS) Faculty as part of the Research and Innovation Team, providing financial coordination and support for the Economic and Social Research Council's Impact Acceleration Account (ESRC IAA) awarded to the University, as well as ensuing ESRC uplifts. The broad aim of the IAA is to accelerate engagement and knowledge exchange activities, showcasing the interesting and valuable work of Newcastle social scientists on a local, national, and international level. As part of the impact team Victoria is also involved in facilitating capacity building events and wider Public Engagement programmes run across the University.
