Sandra Murphy

Research Associate

I completed my undergraduate degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Maynooth University, Ireland in 2014. I then began my PhD under the supervision of Prof Kay Ohlendieck at Maynooth University. My research utilised proteomics to characterise the mdx-4cv mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive and fatal neuromuscular disorder.

Following the completion of my PhD in 2018, I moved to Newcastle University to begin a post-doctoral research associate position with the fibrosis group of Jelena and Derek Mann and the proteomics group of Matthias Trost. My research will use mass spectrometry-based proteomics to help understand the role of neutrophils in liver disease.
