Childhood cancer

Childhood cancer – core funding

Funding from the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund (NECCR) underpins essential infrastructure support for a broad range of childhood cancer epidemiology research mainly within the Institute of Health & Society, and based within the Sir James Spence Institute building.

There are continuing active collaborations with clinical researchers, including those in the Northern Institute of Cancer Research (NICR). Our childhood cancer research in IHS is organised into three major areas:

  • molecular epidemiology
  • survivorship
  • registry-based research – aetiology and survival
