How do political decisions, the economy, and the wider institutional context affect health and social inequalities in health?

This theme tackles global issues for health such as climate change, privatisation and marketisation, welfare and democratic systems, trade agreements, and human rights law and governance. It raises specific issues such as the role of legal frameworks in addressing health inequalities or neoliberal politics and health. Closer to home, the effects of austerity upon health inequalities in the North East are being examined.
