About the course:

This module provides an introduction to academic writing in English for Humanities and Social Sciences. It focuses on how to approach written academic assignments by:

  • analysing the meaning of assignment titles
  • planning the structure of an essay
  • outlining methods of integrating sources
  • developing techniques and strategies to avoid plagiarism
  • providing input on a number of common rhetorical functions which are frequently used in academic writing
