Choosing Newcastle

I chose to study at Newcastle because it is a top business school in the UK and the curriculum of my course suited my interest. Newcastle is an important city in North East England, it’s neither too small nor too large and it has everything that a big crowded city like London would do! However it is also just a short walk to the city centre with no need for complex public transport and is no more than 40 minutes to the sea. I prefer to live in the North because I like the cool weather!

Studying at Newcastle

The course is very related to my undergraduate degree which is really good. I have found my lecturers to be well qualified, really kind and ready to help if you have any problem or issue. The Business School is a modern and comfortable building to learn in and the library is great, I can find many references here which are so important to my life! The online system makes my life easy as I can access: my timetable, due date of library loans, university events, Blackboard, lecture slides and submit my work – so convenient!

At postgraduate level we have to read a lot more and take on more responsibility. This can be stressful but we can handle it! It is really a great time of my life. There are only 20 people in my class, so it’s really social. We all know each other and interact together. This semester I have five classes a week, but it does vary – last semester I had seven classes a week. These include group work, my group is very multinational.

Postgraduate Community

I feel I am part of a community of Thai students as well as the friends I made from my INTO pre-sessional course. I also feel part of a community when we do group work and in seminars as we discuss a lot together. My friends are so kind, they help studying and we go out together.

The INTO pre-sessional course was really good to prepare me for postgraduate study. It helped me to get familiar with the environment and used to speaking English all the time.

Funding my studies

I funded my studies through money I had earnt working, help from my parents and a Business Excellence Scholarship from the Business School worth £5,000.

Career aspirations

I would like to work as a business analyst or a business or financial consultant, and this course trains me for these careers. I really enjoy analysing data. I am also interested in investment. If I had the chance, I would love to work abroad here in Newcastle.

Accommodation

I live in University accommodation called Leazes Terrace. It is a historical house but comfortable inside (even though it looked like a maze when I first arrived!). It is only five minutes from the Business School and has a PC cluster in the basement (which was really handy when my laptop broke down!).

Living in Newcastle

It is very convenient to go everywhere because Newcastle is a compact city and you can find anything in the city centre. I can walk anywhere in the city and I feel like everything I need is here. There is little pollution and the atmosphere is clean and the people are really friendly.

Remembering Newcastle

The highlight of Newcastle has been the weather, it is absolutely different from the weather in Thailand but I love it! I will remember everything in this town always!
