Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The IoN is committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for all its members. It was awarded an Athena SWAN (Scientific Women's Academic Network) silver award, which recognises good employment practice and the promotion of women working in science, engineering and technology.

IoN is committed to providing a good working environment for all its staff and students. follows the six principles of the Athena Swan Charter. In April 2015 the IoN was awarded an Athena SWAN Silver Award which acknowledges significant and sustained progression and achievement in promoting gender equality. Newcastle University as a whole also holds a Silver Award

Moving forwards we recognise that are many aspects which may prevent an individual from reaching their full potential. You can read more about the work of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team at university level and within the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Within our institute we have created an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee in order to address local factors and culture.
