Postgraduate Support

Postgraduate Support

Postgraduate students are an important part of the Institute. We want all students to have the best experience during your time at Newcastle.

Postgraduate Research Community of the Institute of Neuroscience (prIoN)

The members of prIoN are all current postgraduate students with IoN. Members sit on Institute committees and represent postgraduate student interests. They can offer support and advice to all IoN students and organise a number of social events throughout the year. If you would like to get in touch with the prIoN members please email ion@newcastle.ac.uk.

International students

Many of our postgraduate students are from overseas. The University has a dedicated section for International students to help make your move to Newcastle as easy as possible. It has information on: fees and funding, English language requirements, accommodation and much more.

Before you arrive to start your studentship we can arrange to pair you with one of our existing students to help answer any questions you have. For further information please contact our Postgraduate Secretary: Beckie Hedley +44 (0)191 208 8244
email ion-postgrad-enq@newcastle.ac.uk

Careers

The University's Careers Service provides an award winning service for our students. It enjoys a great reputation locally and nationally. It will work with you from day one to assess your options, choose the right ones for you and the best way to get there.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Newcastle University is committed to supporting all its members to reach their full potential regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, race, gender identity, sex, pregnancy or maternity, marital status, religion and belief, sexual orientation, or caring responsibilities. The University is a member of the Stonewall Global Diversity Champions programme and the Institute holds an Athena SWAN silver award demonstrating our commitment to promoting gender equality in science. We aim to ensure every interview, assessment panel and supervisory team include both men and women and all institute events are held within core hours. We ask all staff and student to attend our unconscious bias training to understand how your own motivations may affect interactions with others.
