Dr Luis Peraza Rodriguez

Research Associate

I am a Research Associate within the Institute of Neuroscience (ION). My main research interests are the ageing brain and computational analysis of neurodegenerative diseases. I investigate datasets from healthy controls and patients acquired by different neuroimaging technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in their functional and structural modalities (sMRI and fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and magnetoencephalography (MEG). In the ION we have rich databases that we interrogate by innovative computational methods, and also I use public databases dedicated to study ageing and neurodegenerative diseases within my research.

Currently my research is focused on understanding the core symptoms of Lewy body disease: Complex visual hallucinations, cognitive fluctuations and Parkinsonism. Mainly, my focus is on understanding what happens in the brain that triggers these symptoms with the aim to find biomarkers for an earlier diagnosis using non-invasive neuroimaging modalities.
