Dr Richard Dodds

Clinical Int Fellow/Honorary Consultant


Richard Dodds is an Intermediate Clinical Fellow based at the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre, and an Honorary Consultant in Geriatric Medicine at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

He moved to Newcastle in 2018, having previously combined specialty training in Geriatric Medicine and research, including a PhD as a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellow.

His research is based in the Age Research Group and focuses on a life course approach to sarcopenia, including the mechanisms involved in the loss of muscle strength and mass in mid-life and old age. He is a participant in the current European Academy for Medicine of Ageing.
