Purchasing IT Equipment

Requests to Purchase or Supply IT Equipment and Hardware

There is currently a lead time for the supply of all IT hardware. If you’ve already raised a request for IT equipment, NUIT will advise on the latest availability from our suppliers and any new process now necessary to get the equipment to you.

Due to the current on-campus delivery/collection restrictions, NUIT will not be able to process new orders for IT equipment and hardware in the usual way at this time. A new purchasing process has been established to reflect restrictions imposed by the current Coronavirus/COVID-19 situation. That process will be subject to revision without notice while ever circumstances continue to change.

In line with Financial Regulations, the use of a Purchasing card for IT equipment is not permitted. Please contact the University Procurement team if you require further information.  NUIT staff will not be able to help set up or connect any IT equipment that has been procured in this way.  NUIT staff will also be unable to help set up or connect any IT equipment you buy for yourself. NUIT are not able to arrange delivery or support set-up of IT equipment at a home address.

NUIT staff cannot facilitate the removal of IT equipment from campus buildings for colleagues home use. As outlined in the communications from the University Executive Board, NUIT staff will be on campus to provide necessary services in support of the University's operations during the current circumstances.

Request to Purchase IT Peripherals to Support Home Working

A small range of IT peripherals (keyboards, mice, webcams, headsets etc.) will be available via NUIT to support remote working where the requirement is business-critical. All requests must be reviewed and authorised by the Head of Unit (or nominee).

Request can be made at go.ncl.ac.uk/itservice/peripheral-request

NUIT will advise on the latest availability and the process for collection. If you are unsure of the best solution for your needs, please contact the IT Service Desk

We're working to support customers with these new purchasing restrictions by mitigating the requirement to purchase hardware. Our Remote & Home Working Guides offer a range of advice and guidance on how to use University systems from home (or elsewhere) using your own or University-supplied IT.  Please contact the IT Service Desk (preferably via email) if you need help with any University IT systems you have or can access from home.
