Be well@NCL – tried and tested books to help improve wellbeing

To celebrate World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10th October, the University Library, in partnership with the University's Student and Staff Wellbeing Service, are launching Be well @ NCL book collections at Philip Robinson Library and Walton libraries. The books can be borrowed by students or staff to help understand and manage their mental health and wellbeing.

The books in the collection provide helpful information and support for managing common mental health conditions or dealing with difficult feelings and experiences. Some books also include personal stories from people who are living with, or caring for, someone with mental health difficulties. The difference between these books and any other self-help books, which you could pick up from a book shop or online, is that they have been recommended by mental health professionals and people with experience of the issues covered.

The collection is based on the successful, national Reading Well scheme (which is rigorously put together by a range of health professionals), as well as including additional titles from therapists in the University’s Student and Staff Wellbeing Service.
