If you have any queries relating to your studies, teaching or research then please get in touch with me or find out more about resources for your subject.

The SAgE Liaison team can help you incorporate a range of information literacy teaching into your curriculum:

Designing a search strategy:

  • Expanding on your research question to identify keywords and list synonyms/alternatives.
  • Combining your search terms (understanding BOOLEAN operators, truncation characters and wildcards).
  • Defining the scope of your search (setting limits on date/geography/language as appropriate).

Choosing and using databases:

  • Understanding the difference between keyword searching and controlled vocabulary searching.
  • Identifying appropriate resources and utilising advanced search techniques for systematic literature review.
  • Citation searching to follow key papers/authors.

Referencing and keeping up-to-date:

  • Saving searches within databases to create marked lists and email alerts.
  • Downloading search results to EndNote and de-duplicating references.
  • Referencing correctly in the required style (and how EndNote can help).

Please contact me directly for advice or to develop a session for your students/research group.
