Roll out of EndNote 20

Roll out of EndNote 20

EndNote X9 is upgrading to EndNote 20

In preparation for the roll out of EndNote 20 across all University managed devices and the Windows Virtual Desktop, you will need to consider the following before you upgrade your software:

  • create at least two backups of your existing EndNote Library (.enl and .Data folders)
  • if you are using EndNote on your personal device, you can only have one version of EndNote on your device, so you will need to first uninstall EndNote X9
  • EndNote 20 will replace previous EndNote versions on all networked PC workstations

To request the EndNote 20 software to download to your personal device, contact NUIT. The Library will not be supporting EndNote X9 going forward; however, we will help with EndNote X9 during this transition phase.

Once you have upgraded to EndNote 20 on your device or University desktop:

  • when you open your EndNote library in EndNote 20 for the first time it will automatically convert your library. If you have any problems with converting your EndNote library, follow the steps in this FAQ
  • allow yourself some time to look at EndNote 20 before you need to use it in earnest as it looks a bit different to previous versions. Plenty of help and guidance on our EndNote Guide and via Clarivate’s training guide.
