Library services from 19 July 2021

Library services from 19 July 2021

Following national and regional advice the University has taken the decision to retain all COVID controls and guidance as they are until 16 August 2021. This is to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible on campus.

Subsequently, there will be no changes to how we are currently operating our services and entry to the libraries will continue to be by advanced booking only.

Help us to keep a safe and comfortable environment for all by continuing to:

  • wear a face covering inside the library when not sat at a desk
  • observe physical distancing and one way systems to move around our buildings
  • use our cleaning and hygiene stations’ supplies, to clean study spaces before and after use, and sanitise your hands regularly

Study spaces

The Philip Robinson Library, Walton Library and Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms are open for pre-bookable individual study spaces by University staff and students.

  • please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your booking starts as you will be asked to wait
  • have your booking email ready to show on entry
  • be sure to use your booked space and scan in and out of your seat using the QR code on the desk

NHS users can continue to book study space at the Walton Library and access our other services.

Borrowing and returning

Our Click and Collect  service will continue to be available for University staff and students on campus, and for those studying away from campus or are self-isolating, you can still access our Click and Post service.

Returning books you no longer need

You can return any books you no longer need to any of our locations around campus:

  • Philip Robinson Library - book drop located beside the front door
  • Medical School - book drop located at building main entrance and outside the Library entrance
  • Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms - return bin located inside the building (only accessible if you have pre-booked a study space)
  • Dame Margaret Barbour Building - return kiosk located on the ground floor

If someone else has requested an item you have on loan and you are unable to return it, please let us know via Library Help.

Community members and visitors

At this time, we are unable to extend our services to our community members. However, we look forward to welcoming community members and visitors, including staff and students from other universities, back into our buildings once it is safe and practical to do so. Community memberships will be adjusted accordingly.

We continue to keep our service provision under constant review, and will notify users of changes via the Library website and Twitter accounts. Our number one priority is to provide a safe and Covid-secure environment for all using our facilities and services. Thank you for your support in helping us to achieve this.
