Skills and Resources for Postgraduates

Skills and Resources for Postgraduates

The Library Teams are here for postgraduate students throughout the summer months as you focus on your individual research projects.

The Postgraduate Collection

Over on the Academic Skills Kit you will find a new curated collection that brings together a series of resources focusing on research and writing skills for postgraduate students. From assessing your existing skills to dealing with procrastination, it is designed to help you get the most out of your taught or research postgraduate course.

The collection will help you discover guidance and resources covering topics including:

  • how to find the information you need for your research and how to make the most of Library collections
  • mapping existing scholarship and keeping up-to-date with the research in your field
  • effective strategies for managing, maximising and streamlining your reading and note-taking
  • overcoming procrastination and maintaining your motivation throughout the process of writing your thesis or dissertation

Individual support

Using our new appointment booking system you can arrange to meet with an Academic Skills tutor or your Liaison Team. You are able to choose the style of appointment that suits your needs and select a time that is most convenient for you to meet with us in person or online using Zoom.

Postgraduate Dissertation Clinic

Join us for our focused event open to all postgraduate students from 2nd to 4th August 2022. The Academic Skills Team will be on hand to answer any dissertation related queries you may have. Whether you aren't sure about how to get started, need some support around the structure of your dissertation or would like some pointers around how to express criticality in your work, we can help!
