Studying in the Library: What You Need to Know

26 November 2020

To ensure we comply with current Government and University guidance around working safely on campus during Covid-19, it has been necessary to make several important adjustments to our buildings and services. The buildings may look a little different than you remember, and we have introduced new services to help you access the spaces and resources you need.

The Philip Robinson Library, Walton Library and Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms are open for individual study, as well asfor borrowing resources via ourClick and Collect service and returning them safely when you are done.

What do you need to know about studying in the Library?

  • Study space bookings are available to all Newcastle University staff and students.
  • Entry to the Libraries is by advanced booking only. Please don’t visit unless you have pre-booked a study space. You may be required to show your booking email on entry.
  • There are a range of study spaces available including study rooms, desks with PCs, individual desks, and study booths all of which are for individual use only. You must keep to your pre-booked seat.
  • Be sure to scan into your pre-booked space using the QR code on the deskIf you don’t check-in, your study space will be released back into the booking system and may be double booked.
  • Help us provide a safe and comfortable environment for all by using the materials provided to clean your study space when you arrive and leave, and by disposing of any litter in the bins provided.

  • Hand sanitiser is available and we encourage you to use it regularly.
