More for you this Summer Term at the Library

Extended opening and study spaces for summer term

To help support your study on campus, from 26 April, we are extending opening hours and increasing study spaces across our libraries:

  • The Philip Robinson Library will be open from 08:30 – midnight 7 days a week, offering 450 bookable study spaces
  • The Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms will also be open from 08:30 – midnight 7 days a week, providing 250 study spaces
  • The Walton Library will be open from 08:30 – 22:00, Monday to Friday and 10:00-22:00 at weekends, there will be 140 spaces available to book

Non-bookable study spaces are still available in many locations across campus. To check where and when they are open visit the Study Space Finder.

As we expect our buildings to be busy, we need you to remember a few key things when studying in the library:

  • Book a space - please don’t turn up without a booking as we won’t be able to let you in
  • Have your booking confirmation ready to show staff as it will be checked
  • Wear a mask (unless you’re exempt)
  • Scan in to your desk using the QR code or URL on the sticker- if you don’t, our system will cancel your booking and you could lose your desk
  • Scan out when you’ve finished
  • And if you’ve booked but don’t need it anymore, please remember to cancel your booking - it will open that space for someone else to book

All our spaces are individual silent study, so we ask you to respect social distancing rules and your fellow students, by staying in your booked seat and keeping noise to a minimum.

Help and support for exams and dissertations

Our staff are here to offer help and support for you whether you’re at home or on campus. Join us for our online workshops for revision tips and advice on preparing for an exam, as well as guidance on completing your dissertation. Staff are available for one-to-one bookings for all your exam or dissertation needs and you will find a range of resources online in the Academic Skills Kit.

You can still borrow items through our Click and Collect or Click and Post services.

Returning books you no longer need

Remember if you’re travelling onto campus to study or collect requested items, you can return any books you no longer need to any of our locations around campus:

  • Philip Robinson Library - book drop located beside the front door
  • Medical School - book drop located at building main entrance and outside the Library entrance
  • Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms - return bin located inside the building (only accessible if you have pre-booked a study space)
  • Dame Margaret Barbour Building - return kiosk located on the ground floor

If someone else has requested an item you have on loan and you are unable to return it, please let us know via Library Help.
