Visiting the Library

Visiting the Library

26 November 2020

Since the middle of July, we have embarked upon a phased re-opening of Library buildings, starting with the Philip Robinson Library.  To ensure we comply with current Government and University guidance on working safely on campus during Covid-19, it has been necessary to make several important adjustments to our buildings and services.

Important information about using the Library

  • Entry to the libraries is by advance booking only. Please don’t visit unless you have pre-booked a seat. You may be required to show your seat booking email on entry.
  • Remember to scan in and out of your seat using the QR code on the desk.
  • Social distancing measures, including a one way system, are in place to enable you to study and move around the building safely.
  • Masks must to be worn (unless you are medically exempt) when moving around the building.
  • Please user hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Seats are booked for individual use, and you must keep to your pre booked seat.
  • Clean your study space when you arrive and leave using the cleaning materials provided.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 you must stay at home.
  • Please dispose of any litter using the bins provided, so that all Library users are able to use a safe, clean environment.
  • The study space booking service is only available for staff and students of Newcastle University. Information on when we will be expanding this service to our NHS users will be coming soon.

We look forward to welcoming back our community members and will notify you once this becomes possible.  Membership periods will be adjusted accordingly.

Our number one priority is to provide a safe and covid-secure work environment for staff and students during these challenging times.

Thank you for your support in helping us to achieve this.
