Welcome back after the Winter break

Welcome back after the Winter break

10 January 2022

Welcome back after the winter break!

All four libraries are open and you can use any of them - all you need is your University smartcard.

Library opening times

We are following University and government guidelines and it is now mandatory to wear a face covering (unless you are exempt) whilst moving around the Library buildings or where at least 1m separation cannot be maintained. If you forget to bring your mask with you don't worry, you can collect one from the Library helpdesks.

Study Spaces

We have plenty of different study spaces to suit your needs. You don’t have to book a study space ahead of a visit but may prefer to as we enter the busy assessment period.

We have increased the number of individual bookable study spaces for those who prefer to work in a quieter part of the Philip Robinson Library. Individual bookable spaces are available across Levels 3 and 4.

If you need a quiet space to take an exam or just to study, some of the Philip Robinson Library’s individual study rooms now have PCs installed and, like all our bookable spaces, can be booked up to 14 days in advance.

Help with assignments and assessments

We have a wealth of online resources available to you wherever you are studying. The best way to access these is through Library Search or your Subject Guide, as this ensures you are authenticated as a Newcastle University staff member or student. You can find our tips on how to search for e-books or e-journal articles on the Finding Quality Information Online page on the Academic Skills Kit.
