Student Wellbeing & Support Officer

Background

 

To provide a welfare and pastoral service to Newcastle University Students, including those studying on pathway, undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. As part of my role I must operate within the legal and regulatory frameworks including those regarding the support of all students under the age of 18. To provide information, resources, and appropriate signposting to available support services to students, and advise on health and wellbeing and the topics listed below:   

 

  • Financial matters (banking, budgeting, hardship funds, scholarships)
  • UK healthcare services (emergency and non-emergency)
  • Mental health and counselling
  • Disability (DSA and reasonable adjustments)
  • Specific learning difficulties (DSA and reasonable adjustments)
  • Faith (chaplaincy support)
  • Safety and security
  • General wellbeing

 

As well as providing one-to-one help, as Welfare Officer I am also involved in running campaigns and events on Campus to help engage students in health and wellbeing issues.
