Newcastle University London Student Services is fully dedicated to enhancing the learning, research and living experience of all students, ensuring that we are fully inclusive and supportive of all members of the University community.

We welcome all who are part of the LGBTQ+ and non-binary community.  We wish to do all we can to ensure that students identifying as LGBTQ+ and non-binary are not disadvantaged.

In collaboration with the Newcastle University Students’ Union, we recognise the challenges that some transgender and non-binary students may experience.  We work closely with your Students’ Union to mitigate as far as is possible the impact these challenges have on your life.

Confidential, tailored support is available for any student concerned about any LGBTQ+ or non-binary issues and we encourage you to contact the Student Welfare Officer or the Students Union representative so we can collectively explore your needs and the support options available.

Here in London we have many avenues of support available. Below lists some London based support networks as well as online support:

  • The Albert Kennedy Trust - The Albert Kennedy Trust supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people in crisis.
  • Stonewall - An organisation to let all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, here and abroad that they are not alone.
  • Sexpression - Students facilitating sex and relationship lessons with young people.
  • Mermaids UK - An organisation that raise awareness about gender nonconformity in children and young people amongst professionals and the general public.
  • Nightline - Student-run listening service providing emotional support and information, open every night during term.
