I’m from Ecuador, and I always wanted to have an academic experience in London, I’ve always been intrigued by the culture. My hobbies are singing, dancing, and writing. My career goal is to become Brand Manager at a socially responsible brand.

Your course

I chose to study International marketing, because I believe marketing can change the perception people have towards something, and with it make the world a little better. Nowadays, brands are focusing not only on increasing its sales, but also making a positive impact on society. Making profit is great, but the message you put out there is equally important.

Choosing Newcastle University London

I chose Newcastle University London, because while conducting my research it really spoke to me. Everything from the campus, the location, the events, the course modules, I knew this University had everything I needed it to have the best student experience.

Highlights so far

Definitely meeting people from all over the world, sharing not only our career experiences, but also our life journey. I’m so glad I can call many of the people I’ve met my friends.
Just being able to live in London is a highlight, this city has so many things to offer that I really can say there’s always something to do.

Best bits about your course

What I’m enjoying the most is the learning experience. Learning from amazing professors with a lot of knowledge in the field, being able to ask them questions, and then receiving valuable advice. Also, putting what we learn in class in to work on projects. I believe the best way to learn is by doing, and the course is giving me the tools to do so.

Living in London

I live in a student accommodation. It’s a studio that has everything I need. I’m really organised and a super control freak when it comes to my personal belongings, so it was very appealing to me that I didn’t have to share anything with anyone. But this accommodation has great studying areas, where I’ve met wonderful people. It also has an on-site gym which is perfect for me. I found it when I was conducting research in my home country, and I couldn’t be happier.

Being a student in London

Being a student in London is the best! I really think this has been one of the greatest decisions I’ve made in my life. I love that it’s a metropolitan city, so you literally see people from all over working or studying. I love how there’s always something happening and if I want, I can be a part of it.

Top tips for prospective students

If you‘re thinking on studying abroad, London is best option! I can only speak from experience but I really have nothing negative to say about the city itself. I’m from Ecuador I’m really far from home but it has really made me mature, and grow. Being immersed in a different culture has made me a better marketer and a better person.
