Dr Tom Bland named as an Emerging Leader in physics

Dr Tom Bland, an EPSRC funded Research Fellow in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, has been named one of the Institute of Physics' Journal of Optics Emerging Leaders of 2021. Dr Bland's nomination comes on the back of an extensive early career publication record, studying quantum gases and nonlocal nonlinear quantum optics. An Emerging Leader is a top researcher in their field who completed their PhD in 2010 or later. A limited number of early career researchers have been nominated by the journal's Editorial Boards as the most talented and exciting researchers in their generation.
The Journal of Optics has brought together the best early-career researchers of pure and applied optics, both modern and classical, and will publish their exceptional work in an annual collection dedicated to Emerging Leaders. Furthermore, the author of the most outstanding contribution from 2021 will be presented with the Journal of Optics Early Career Award.
