Maths Challenge

In light of the rapidly changing situation with Covid-19 the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics have cancelled or postponed all remaining outreach events until 30th June 2020, this date may be extended as the situation progresses. We hope to restart our outreach programme as soon as it is safe and reasonable to do so, please check back here for updates. 

The 2020 Maths Challenges have been marked and winners have been communicated to schools, certificates have also been sent out electronically. Prizes and physical copies of the certificates will be sent out to schools when possible. 

The solutions and a few details about the entries can be found in the PowerPoint and PDF below.

The Newcastle Maths Challenges for 2020 are now CLOSED.

This is for Year 8 (Maths Challenge) and Year 10 (Senior Maths Challenge) Mathematicians. The 2020 Maths Challenges are available below. All instructions can be found on the front page of the challenge papers. The deadline for entries to be returned to the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics is 2nd March, entries received after this time may not be considered for a prize. The prize giving evening will take place on 29th April 2020.
