Spatial and environmental statistics

A number of members of the group work on spatial statistics, in particular with application to modelling environmental data, and on the statistics of environmental extremes.

 Examples of projects undertaken include:

  • Bayesian modelling of environmental extremes, such as extreme wind speed, sea-surge and rain fall
  • spatio-temporal modelling of rainfall data
  • developing the theory of random fields on spheres.
