Why did you choose to study your course at Newcastle University?

I love the city and the people, it’s a great quality red brick university which allows you to study in a happy environment

What did you like the most about your course? Did you do a placement in industry or project with industry? If so, how has this experience helped you in your career?

My course allowed me to work on solving a huge range of problems. I don’t use all of it in my job, but I constantly use the valuable problem solving skill that these different courses gave me.

How would you describe the city of Newcastle upon Tyne?

Beautiful architecture, friendly people, great sports team opportunities and all round a lot of fun.

What do you think about the clubs and societies that you could join? If you were a member of one, what sort of activities did it involve?

I was 2nd team captain of the volleyball team, it allowed me to meet people of different nationalities and to represent the university in competitions

Where did you live? Was it easy to find somewhere?

Jesmond and then the quayside. There is a huge range of accommodation to fit most price ranges and needs.

Where do you work now and what does your role involve?

Goldman Sachs, asset management division. I service European shareholders primarily and oversee the trading into GSAM funds. I also calculate rebates and trailers to be returned to some investors, setting up the legal agreements with clients and then calculating and paying these fees.

How do you feel your course or other activities you were involved in at Newcastle contributed to you achieving your career goals?

It gave me the skill set and importantly the social skills which are key to success in a grad job at a high profile firm.
