Background
Graduated June 2020 from Durham University with a BSc (Hons) Psychology (1st Class).
Research Assistant working within The Stroke Research Group / Translational and Clinical Research Institute/ Institute of Neuroscience since April 2021.
At present I am responsible for assisting with the PEARS (Promoting Effective and Rapid Stroke Care) programme development grant (PDG), a programme of research concerned with promoting widespread and effective implementation of Mechanical Thrombectomy (MT) for large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes in the UK. This programme of research is lead by Prof Phil White. A key part of my PDG work is engaging with stroke survivors and their relatives in order to gather their opinions on stroke care pathway changes designed to enhance access to Mechanical Thrombectomy.
Alongside my PDG work, I am the primary research assistant for SINONIMs (Study In Novel Neuromuscular Imaging biomarkers for Motor Outcome in Stroke) under Dr Akif Gani/Dr Dipayan Mitra. The aim of SINONIMs is to investigate the potential of MRI biomarkers for predicting motor recovery following ischaemic stroke.
I also assist Dr Graham McClelland with his research within The North East Ambulance Service, which is concerned with improving on - scene stroke times and the implementation of telemedicine in pre-hospital contexts.
