Ge is a Senior Research Associate in the North East Health Economics Group, Newcastle University, and the NIHR ARC North East and North Cumbria (NENC) Fellow in Assistive Technologies and Data Linkage. He leads the Microeconometrics theme in the Group to develop and refine tools and methods and so enhance the evaluation infrastructure. Along with it, he provides health economic and microeconometric input into ARC linked projects and beyond, focusing on the development and maintenance of a framework for routine consideration of health data, and the delivery of rapid evaluation. He would be interested to hear from prospective PhD students if they have research interests in using data linkage, statistical modelling of routine data or causal inference in economic evaluation.
Ge was trained as an economist at the Universities of Bristol and Bath before undertaking an ESRC postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Sheffield. He moved to the Institute for Health and Human Development, University of East London, where he was responsible for providing statistical support in the design and analysis of the RCT designed Well London programme and other projects. He subsequently worked as a health economist at the University of Leeds, working extensively on economic evaluations in the field of cardiovascular diseases, fractures of the low radius, and dental health care. In 2015, he moved to the Epidemiology and Cancer Statistics Group, University of York, working as a lead health economist/statistician.
